Winter is pretty much tights & leggings season for me, and I typically stick to neutral, classic shades: black, browns, and grays. Colors that are easy to match with a variety of dresses or long sweaters, but when I saw these purple argyle tights, I just knew I had to make an exception for them.
Today was another snowy, frigid, dreary day, which had put me into a bit of a funk this morning while I was getting ready for work- and so I couldn’t think of a better time to wear them- not only to brighten my outfit, but my mood, as well. I’ve paired them with an over-sized purple sweater and my knee-high black boots in the past, but today I wore them with a slinky black dress and these cute little black ankle boots with a chunky heel that I forgot I had and found in my closet after a bit of rummaging.
Since the tights are so eye-catching, I didn’t want to overdo it by adding a lot of purple or violet tones in my makeup for the day. I used a light rose colored blush with a hint of shimmer over my base (I had a sample of DaVinci’s “Earth” from the extra February GlossyBox I received) to highlight my cheekbones, and a nude matte eye shadow (I used the lighter shade in Clinique’s “Butter Pecan” eye-shadow duo) on my eyelid and just under my brow.
From there, I applied a thin layer of a deep violet eyeliner (Clinique’s Quickliner for Eyes Intense in “Intense Plum”, which is one of my usual standby’s), and a sheer lip balm with only the slightest plum tint in it to give my lips a just a little bit of color (I used Burt’s Bees Tinted Lip Balm in “Sweet Violet“).
I think these tights are like the gateway into my trying other patterned pairs. They’re just so much fun to wear.
